Talkabout is a comprehensive social communications skills program designed by Alex Kelly, a Speech and Language Therapist in the UK. The program is designed for children with social communication skills difficulties and is delivered in a group setting, with up to six participants per group.
The program is carefully structured and offers the following levels:

Talkabout me and you. Improves awareness of self and others. |

Level Two:

Talkabout communication Explores what is meant by communication and allows participants to assess their own communication skills. |

Talkabout body language Improves skills in body language. |

Level Four:

Talkabout the way we talk Improves paralinguisitic skills. |

Level Five:

Talkabout conversation Enhances conversational skills. |

Level Six:

Talkabout assertiveness Develops assertiveness skills.

Following an initial assessment, children are placed in a group that will best meet their social development needs.
The program includes a self rating scale, clear worksheets designed
to encourage practice of skills at home and school plus lots of fun
group activities.
At Melvin Speech Pathology Talkabout is used both as a separate program and in conjunction with our social skills program
