What is Speech Pathology

Speech Pathologists assess, diagnose and treat people who have communication difficulties. Problems with communication may relate to the production of speech sounds, the understanding of spoken language, the use of words and sentences at the appropriate age, stuttering, voice problems and social or pragmatic skills. Speech pathologists also work with people who have difficulties chewing and/or swallowing.

  • Kindergarten and school teachers.
  • Other professionals and community health organizations.
