Kindergartens

Kindergarten is a time when children’s speech and language difficulties often become apparent. Early intervention will assist children address these issues prior to starting primary school. Research has indentified a clear link between language impairment and literacy development. Early intervention can improve the outcome for these children.

The Clinic offers a Speech and Language Assessment package for kindergartens. One of our clinicians would attend your centre and conduct a screening assessment. Each assessment takes approximately 30 minutes. At the end of the assessment, a written report is provided for parents. The report summarises concerns that may have been identified and includes recommendations where appropriate.

To support local kindergartens we also conduct information sessions for parents and staff. Sessions run for approximately one hour with plenty of time set aside for questions. Topics covered include; identifying language disorders, techniques for dealing with children with Autism Spectrum Disorders, techniques for stimulating language and reading.

Schools

The Clinic delivers a comprehensive range of speech pathology services into both state and private schools. This service is delivered under contract and maximises opportunities for liaising with the child's teacher in their formal learning setting.

Weekly therapy conducted in a school setting provides minimum disruption for students.
